Original
Manchester’s favourite young troubadour, Gideon Conn is set to release Crystallised, the second single taken from his album, Hip Hop Original, on May 13th.
The song is a well curated collection of motivational affirmations set against a backdrop of hypnotic beats. Delivered with Gideon’s charismatic and remarkable story-telling techniques, and featuring the soothing vocals of former Boxette, Yvette Riby-Williams, the track is simultaneously spacey, uplifting and a testament to his quirky philosophy of life.
Crystallised could be the portrait of an ordinary day, but supported by a maze-like video – a set of visuals that turn into a trip down the rabbit hole – it becomes an out-of-this-world experience. And to back this up, the single comes equipped with a surreal remix from the space-funk collective, Paper Tiger.
To add an extra twist to the release, Gideon teamed up with two fellow artists and created an innovative piece of mixed arts: an interactive video, which is the perfect blend between Gideon’s music, Dex Hannon’s aesthetic feast of geometry, colour and texture, and Rich Williams’ digital, gaming technology and creative skills.
Eccentric Style
Hip Hop Original was released in November 2015 on Wah Wah 45s, and is an anthology of stories told in a uniquely personal, genuine and honest way. Gideon’s warm and eccentric style has garnered him an army of fans in recent years, and has made him a festival favourite. Check him out this summer!
