Unique Takes
In recent years, ‘funk & soul’ music (as it’s become popularly known) has undergone something of a resurgence, but here at Wah Wah 45s we’ve always flown the flag for sounds steeped in sultry soul and dance floor friendly funk, whilst staying away from anything too derivative. No tunes about ‘funky chickens’ or James Brown rip offs for us – just strong, original song writing (albeit admittedly alongside the odd genre bending cover version) and unique takes on this hugely significant music genre.
Whether it’s cinematic down tempo delights or a club friendly Todd Terje cover from The Gene Dudley Group; Talc’s twisted take on the ‘blue-eyed’ soul sound of the early 80s; or The Milk’s sophisticated style, heavily influenced by The Isley Brothers and Al Green – Wah Wah 45s have always offered a more considered approach to these classic sounds.
So enjoy this journey through eighteen years of soulful selections from the Wah Wah 45s vaults – it’s poultry free!
