The first single to be taken from the Part-Time Heroes’ brand new long-playing opus, “Lightfalls”, features the lush vocals of Sarah Scott, a full strength string section, sublime beats and some of the finest producers around today working together to create one heavyweight package.
As if the spine tingling original wasn’t enough to whet your musical appetite, both Paper Tiger and Lopez (in their LPZ guise) weigh in with two very special mixes indeed – the former slowing down the pace and cranking up the bass, and the later delivering a neck snapping contemporary dance floor workout. Not only that, we’ve added two stunning original pieces of music into the bargain that are exclusive to this release. “Close” features the vocals of Colonel Red and is an epic piece of work, whilst “Wood” is a more delicate, pastoral piece where brass meet strings to welcome in the spring.
“Folded” is your official introduction to the next stage of the Part-Time Heroes story, one which should solidify their status as champions of the UK underground electronic soul scene.
“One of the most underrated outfits in the UK.” Gilles Peterson (BBC Radio 1/6Music, January 2012)

“Soul-electronica outfit Part-Time Heroes are back in the game strong with this latest offering for Wah Wah 45s – label head Dom Servini has always had an inspired musical vision – and he is also a great DJ. Lead cut “Folded” features the scorching vocals of Sarah Scott fronting a string clad, sensual , blues-happy score – turned into two fine remixes; the LPZ vocal is an effervescent old-school house romp for late night club floors and the Paper Tiger remix presents itself as an entanglement of dubstep meets lover’s rock. Artist Colonel Red makes a stunning guest appearance on the dubby, brass and bass cut “Close”, while “Wood” is a sombre and subtle instrumental – all lifted from their forthcoming long-player “Lightfalls”” DJ Marcia Carr, Soul Survivors Magazine
“One of the great things about working in music is seeing artists develop over time, and PTH fall into this category for me. I’ve known about the guys (duo Toby Vane & Ross Wakefield) for a few years now and have always enjoyed their music, but this release takes things up a notch or two. Lead track Folded is beautiful – all haunting strings and ethereal vocals, but it’s ‘Close’ that really does it for me. The combination of the lush instrumentation with stuttering club beats (think Jamie xx with a jazz degree) and Colonel Red’s soulful vocals takes the track somewhere quite unique. It’s a track I can imagine leaking out of my headphones on a night bus home – just stunning. Also on the release are instrumental track ‘Wood’, which is reminiscent of some of Bonobo’s recent work, as well as a couple of clubbier takes on the lead track from rising talents LPZ and Paper Tiger.” DJ Gilla, First Word (UK)
