3AM is the third single to be taken from Hardkandy’s much anticipated fourth studio album, Pure Fantasy. Crafted over two years, the album has been something of a labour of love for the man behind the project, Tim Bidwell, and comes after a fourteen year hiatus, during which time Tim became something of a prolific producer for other artists at his Clockwork Owl Studios in Brighton.
It was while working on the Limes EP for up-and-coming vocalist Sarah Goodson that Tim was struck by her incredible talent and immediately decided he needed to work with her on something of his own. 3AM was soon written, specifically with her in mind. It’s a dark and dubby piece that evokes an after hours world of hedonistic parties and comedowns with musical inspiration unashamedly taken from the late 90’s/early noughties trip hop and chill out scene.
Hardkandy’s new material takes the listener on a seductive and sonorous journey where harmonious melodies meet hypnotic rhythms. Fans will still recognise the signature cut and paste Hardkandy sound, just reimagined for 2022 with real musicians playing real instruments.
