“Makes you proud to be into this kind of music” Craig Charles (BBC 6Music)
Having released their debut album for Wah Wah 45s, Orange Whip, in the spring of 2018 to much critical acclaim (including Album of the Day on BBC 6Music) eclectic Manchester based outfit Honeyfeet mark the short pause before their next long-player with two stunning jazz covers.
Their sultry take of Tom Waits’ Clap Hands has already been premiered by Craig Charles on BBC 6Music and got the radio jock rather hot under the collar and gushy when he featured it in his first show of 2019, made up of his hot tips for the new year.
Add to that a rather tasty re-work of jazz standard You Go To My Head which lures the listener in with lead singer Rioghnach Connolly’s sweet and innocent serenade before the band go for the jugular with typically heavy, brassy tones and stomping drums, and you’ve got a very special release indeed.
