Recent Wah Wah signings out of Leeds, Paper Tiger, have spent the last few months preparing an arsenal of bass worrying electronic music ready to unleash upon the masses in 2013.
Their debut “Priceless” EP for Wah Wah 45s, released last summer, was a visceral, uncompromising concoction of hip hop, post-dubstep and electro-soul music featuring resident wordsmith Raphael Attar, and led to the band playing at festivals across the UK including Lovebox, Mostly Jazz and the Secret Garden Party to much acclaim.
The “Come Correct” EP takes their sound one step further with riotous lyricism courtesy of UK hip hop / grime heroes Foreign Beggars; a mind-blowing dance floor remix from French uber-producer Fulgeance; and a rather dashing spoken word piece featuring Maze Hill’s Joshua Idehen that comes complete with a gloriously wonky re-work from Brooklyn trio Archie Pelago.
Paper Tiger will be supporting Homeboy Sandman on March 7th 2013 at Cargo – a sure-fire taster of what’s to come as the pair collaborate on the next EP from the outfit, due in April.
“Takes the synth-prog density of a Rustie or Slugabed and lifts it on clouds of Don Cherry rhythm” Joe Muggs, The Wire Magazine (UK)
“Funky!” Homeboy Sandman (Stones Throw, USA)
“Isn’t it lovely? Wonderful, lovely stuff.” – Lauren Laverne (BBC 6Music)

“I’m not in to rapping much… But this is pretty cool. Like the bass in this, so good! Like that u included the instrumental. Like the sound of this Fulgeance remix, good use of the vocals here. Sidetracked is a very interesting track. Like the combination of the synths and instruments together. Reminds me a bit of Mathew Herbert Scales album. Same again (with the remix) maybe just because i’ve been listening to that album again this week this track is reminding me of it… Anyway interesting stuff.” DJ Nelson Ramalho (UK)
