Make It Through, the third single to be lifted from Paper Tiger’s debut album, Laptop Suntan, sees the Leeds based crew on blistering, foot friendly form. Verbose and witty frontman Raphael Attar delivers a positive and life affirming message balanced by the band’s somewhat sinister trademark keys and hefty doomful bass wobbles. And to guarantee dance floor destruction they were lucky enough to receive a remix of some weight from Manchester’s producer of the moment, Werkha, who virtually re-built the track with typically jazz flavoured but seriously sonorous beats as only he can.

Since their humble beginnings in a Wolverhampton suburban bedroom, Leeds-based hip hop, space jazz and bass-loving outfit Paper Tiger have carved their own niche in the electronic music scene, both as a heavyweight production outfit and as a damned fine live band (sharing stages with the likes ofHomeboy Sandman,Jaga Jazzist, Rustie, Gaslamp Killer, Daedelus, Alice Russell, Amon Tobin and many more).

Reactions

“I love it. It sits perfectly on The Beat Down!” Scroobius Pip (XFM, UK)

“You might think this is a surprising choice for me, it’s a dance track, and if it gets in your head it’ll be there for months! Record Of The Week!” Dave Rowntree (XFM / Blur, UK)

“I’m loving it at the moment!” Nemone (BBC 6Music, UK)

“That’s gonna take some beating!” Steve Lamacq (BBC 6Music, UK)

“The Werkha remix instrumental is the one for me !” Markus Milz (Further In Fusion, Germany)

“Great release from Paper Tiger, I love the delivery of the rap on all three vocal versions. When i play it on Sunday’s show I will definitely play the single version. I prefer it to the radio edit. The Werkha version for me is too electronic in construct but that’s personal preference and I suppose i’m 43 and was brought up in the old style  teachings of the hip hop ways, but that’s not to say i have a closed mind just a pan-chant 4 /5” DJ Andy Sharp (UK)
