Simon Says is our annual night in memory of Wah Wah 45s co-founder Simon Goss. Five years ago we lost Simon to Lung Cancer.
Every year we gather together, friends, family, musicians of the London Soul, Jazz and Funk scene of which Simon was such an integral part, and we play music and raise money for the incredible Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
Junglist Legend
On the 5th anniversary of Simon Says we thought we’d offer you something a little extra. The Simon Says Compilation features sultry soul and dub from Wah Wah favourites Stac, Resonators and new boys The Milk, as well as some favourite performers from the past five years like Gideon Conn, Raphael Attar and Mammoth Sound. There are contributions from some of this year’s artists, like Mobo Jazz award winner Zara McFarlane, jazz-funk quartet The Expansions, and a man that we’ve been trying to get on since day one, son of Roy, saxophonist Ben Castle. No Simon Says compilation, like any of our events, would be complete though without a little drum & bass action from Chris Goss’ Hospital Records imprint. Here we bring you two brand new offerings, one from Carlos S.P.Y., who debuted for us in 2013, and stalwart of the label, brother of Nu:tone, and all round junglist legend, Logistics.
Every artist on this compilation has given us their recording for free and every single penny will be going direct to The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, so dig deep!
